I did it!

I bet many, many NaBloPoMo bloggers will title their posts that today. And I am one of them!

I did it. I posted every day in November. They weren’t all earth-shattering posts…but what here is?? I’ve had fun and I think it’ll inspire me to keep posting more.

I love the comments and links to other neat blogs I get here. Thank you to everybody who visits my blog and especially to those who say “hi.”

Happy Blogging, everybody! And Happy End of National Blog Posting Month!

BTT: Rolling

btt buttonDo you get on a roll when you read, so that one book leads to the next, which leads to the next, and so on and so on?I don’t so much mean something like reading a series from beginning to end, but, say, a string of books that all take place in Paris. Or that have anthropologists as the main character. Or were written in the same year. Something like that… Something that strings them together in your head, and yet, otherwise could be different genres, different authors…

Hooray! It’s Booking Through Thursday day.

This is an interesting question. I think this does happen to me from time to time. Examples:

I think those count for this question.

I’m also always coming up with reading projects I like (but never do), such as reading 26 books that start with each letter of the alphabet in order or reading only books with red covers or reading 3 books by authors with the same first name.

P.S. Another one of my socks is featured in the CelticAngel Silly Socks Contest today! :)

Cubeville

This is someone’s cubicle. See more of her photos here.

These photos are great. They’re not exactly how I would decorate my workspace if I was going to really put effort into it, but to me these are spaces that make you happy, help you keep your sense of humor, give you needed doses of color and design…spaces that DON’T just suck all your brainpower, spirit, and will to live into a sea of grey.

Yes, I work in a cubicle-type space during the day and like most American office spaces - everything is grey or beige. Painful.

We’re moving offices in December and these photos are inspiring me. Perhaps when I move into my new (smaller and crappier, I hear) space, I will really make it unique in some way.

Ideas:

  • Neatly cover bulletin board spaces with colorful fabrics.
  • Put some kind of soft and colorful blanket on my chair.
  • Decorate any wall space I have with framed postcards and other cheap arty bits.
  • If there’s room, maybe a small accent lamp.
  • Some gnomes (like in some of these photos)! Gnomes are important.

Those are a few ideas to get me started. If/when I begin this project, I’ll take some pictures!

Castle Waiting

castle-waiting.jpg

Quick! Drop what you’re doing and run to your local bookstore or library for Castle Waiting by Linda Medley!

I finished this excellent graphic novel last night and now my work of recommending it near and far begins.

If you just tuned out when I said “graphic novel”…come back! There was a time before I read graphic novels and now I have read so many funny, touching, fabulous ones…I’d never go back! Anyway, whether you’re new to graphic novels or not - give this one a try.

The book is a series of fairy-tale-esque stories, but it’s not quite what you’d expect. It’s smart, quirky, funny, insightful, and just plain awesome.

I was really sorry to see this one end. Are you out there, Linda Medley?? We need more Castle Waiting!!

Seriously. Try this book. And if you do, let me know what you thought!

Sunday Browsing

Let me help you relax with some great Sunday browsing links. =)

Check out this guy’s amazing LOTR (and other) paper creations. They’re made out of sheets of paper - just folded, but in fabulous ways. Very cool!

I love the sketchbook pages Val at The Illustrated Garden posts. Go see her Winter Garden sketches today!

I entered some silly socks in the Celticangel Silly Socks contest and one of my entries is posted there now. If you’d like to see my foot modelling a Halloween-themed sock, with a a glimpse of my pajama pants, artfully displayed on a yoga mat….click here!!

And finally, read a little story from writer Laini Taylor. It’s a Sunday Scribbling response.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Yayga!

I am quite excited right now. I just learned I am one of the winners for a drawing at one of my favorite blogs!

It’s was only recently that I first saw Yoga+ Magazine and right away I was very interested. It seems like more of what I’d like in a yoga periodical than a lot of what I’ve seen out there (that’s all I’ll say on that!). It looks thoughtful and inspiring.

And somehow, just a few weeks later, I’ve now won a subscription to it! Thank you Christine and Universe! =)

Christine writes a beautiful blog that is so…soulful. It is honest and wise. She held a drawing in celebration of her 100th post.

(Hmm…how many posts have I done on this blog? A contest may be in order.)

Anyway, thank you and I hope everyone reading this also has a delightful surprise today!
