Look! Booking Through Thursday is talking about Buy A Friend A Book, too:
Buy a Friend a Book Week is October 1-7 (as well as the first weeks of January, April, and July). During this week, you’re encouraged to buy a friend a book for no good reason. Not for their birthday, not because it’s a holiday, not to cheer them up–just because it’s a book.
What book would you choose to give to a friend and why?
Well, my answer to this question varies according to who the recipient is.
One book I’d like to give to a lot of people, though, is Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith.
It’s not so much a book you read as a book you do. It’s a journal and yes - you wreck it. You wreck it in all kinds of creative ways. It’s great for those of us who have felt that fear ‘messing up’ a fresh, new journal or sketch book.
For others, I’d happily introduce them to the first book in the Owly series of graphic novels. I first learned about these books when a friend gave me a copy of The Way Home & The Bittersweet Summer. I think I’ve talked about these books here before. They’re lovely tales that convey humor, friendship, melancholy, and just great stories - all without words. Very touching and very good.
There are so many great books I’d like to share with friends, but these are two good ones to start with. What about you?

Wreck This Journal–I heard about that a few months ago, but never would have thought of it as a gift. What an excellent idea!
It’s a great book.

I agree - it’s an excellent idea but where can you get it? Guess I’ll have to check Amazon…
